Our History
The Rockhampton Bangla Language School
The Rockhampton Bangla Language School Inc. was founded in February 2020 with the aim of teaching the Bangla language to children and connecting the Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) community with their heritage. It achieved incorporated status in October 2021 and not-for-profit status from the ACNC in December 2022.
The school holds classes every Sunday at CQUniversity and online. Students have access to a Bangla library and regularly perform stage dramas to help them learn the language and culture.
As part of its school activities, the institution hosts three major annual events. These events engage the wider community of Rockhampton and regional Queensland, celebrating Bangla language and culture through performing arts, writing, visual arts, and festivals.
