Azad Rahman
President
President must preside at all general meetings and committee meetings; The President is responsible for dealing with external issues, submission of required documents to the government, The President keeps focus on policies towards engagement with other communities; The President explores external funding options and works with the Vice-President and Executive Member (Finance) to submit external funding applications.
Tabassum Ferdous
Vice President
Tabassum Ferdous has been involved with the Rockhampton Bangla Language School since its inception, contributing through a wide range of teaching and committee roles. She is driven by a vision to develop the school into a vibrant learning community that attracts students from all cultural backgrounds and empowers them to communicate fluently in Bangla. Roles of VP: overseeing event coordination and managing the school’s funding and grant application processes
Mujibur Rahman
Secretary
The Secretary is responsible for coordinating the correspondence of the Association; The Secretary is responsible for ensuring minutes of all proceedings of management meetings, general meetings, and special meetings of the Association are kept in accordance with section 69A of the Act; The Secretary is responsible for maintaining the register of members in accordance with section 69A of the Act; unless the members resolve otherwise at a general meeting – the Secretary has custody of all books, documents, records, and registers of the Association, other than those required by section 38(e) to be in the custody of the Treasurer; and The Secretary is responsible for performing any other duties imposed by this Constitution including looking after regular classroom activities within the Association.
Shah Sanjar Nafis Ahmad
Treasurer
Sanjar has been instrumental in engaging the community and helping establish the Rockhampton Bangla Language School, leading its not‑for‑profit registration, community language school grant processes, and core school activities. A regular Bangla School teacher since 2020, he delivers engaging learning activities—using storytelling, drama, sports, and project‑based activities—to support children from non‑Bangla‑speaking backgrounds in developing their Bangla language skills. Roles of treasurer: managing financial records, preparing budgets, lodging annual reports, and overseeing all financial communications.
Sharbaree Biswas
Member Program
Sharbaree Biswas began volunteering as a teacher at the Rockhampton Bangla School (RBS) in August 2004. Over the years, she has served in several leadership roles, including two years as President and two years as Vice President, and she currently contributes as a member of the RBS Executive Committee. She hopes to deepen her involvement in the future—particularly in teaching, writing, and supporting students with their writing—when the demands of her professional role as a Principal Engineer lessen.
Nasmi Sultana
Member Cultural
As a committee member, Nasmi Sultana is dedicated to preserving rich Bangladeshi heritage and sharing it with the wider community through vibrant cultural events. Her vision is to inspire the next generation in Rockhampton to proudly celebrate their roots and build a strong, shared identity.
Syeda Rafia Zaman
Member Education
Rafia Zaman has been a regular teacher at the Bangla School since 2020 and has contributed significantly to the development of its academic curriculum. Responsibilities: managing teaching resources, overseeing school library, and coordinating the regular assessment of students.
